Eleventh NYC PIctureStart Film Festival

Judges


JEROME RUDES is the founder and director of the Avignon Film Festival in Provence, France (created in 1984 as the French-American Film Workshop), held every June, and the Avignon/New York Film Festival (created in 1995) each November in Manhattan. The festivals have hosted many filmmakers, including Quentin Tarantino, Richard Linklater, Louis Malle, John Turturro, Claude Lelouch, Jim Jarmusch, Samuel Fuller, Ben Gazzara, Paul Mazursky, Peter Fonda, Roger Corman, Jerry Schatzberg, Bob Rafelson and Francis Veber. With Christa Lange Fuller, Jerry organized and edited the memoirs of legendary director Samuel Fuller, A Third Face (Alfred A. Knopf, 2002). www.avignonfilmfest.com.



DOUGLAS BUCK directed the remake of Brian DePalma's SISTERS (opening next month in New York), starring Chloe Sevigny, Stephen Rea and Dallas Roberts. He made his mark on the international film festival circuit with his feature FAMILY PORTRAITS: A TRILOGY OF AMERICA, earning acclaim from filmmakers Gaspar Noe and Abel Ferrara, and such diverse publications as Cahiers du Cinema and Fangoria. Doug will edit John Gallagher's upcoming DIGGER, and reunite with Chloe Sevigny to direct THE INNOCENTS. www.douglasbuck.net.



DANIEL SCHECHTER wrote and produced the award-winning feature THE BIG BAD SWIM and went on to co-create Renart Films where he wrote and directed GOODBYE BABY. That film recently premiered at the 2007 ShoWest event in Las Vegas. Currently, Dan is writing several projects (including the web-series BEST LAID PLANS and several feature films) and works as an editor at Renart Films. www.renartfilmspodcast.com.
